Managing Director - Markerstudy BrokingHow did you get into insurance?
I effectively fell into insurance, as many do. Starting in retail banking with an operational background, then being in a business which Markerstudy acquired, and since then going from strength to strength in this company. What you love about it?
The fact that no day is the same. There are constant changes we have to look at and assess, from regulatory variations to new developments and opportunities with our partners, and it's that what keeps it interesting. What you hate about it?
I don't think I hate anything. It's hard. I think as Brokers we have a lot to do, but hate is a strong term!Best professional achievement
I'm most proud of how we've turned the fortunes round for some of the businesses that we've acquired. We've managed to take the businesses and turn them into profitable organisations. In some cases, this has meant diversifying into new markets, broadening our scope of business. Most importantly, we've been able to give many employees new opportunities.Biggest challenge facing the sector?
Regulation. As the most heavily regulated industry, it can make it hard for brokers to operate day-to-day. On the flip side, it makes it an interesting challenge to find where the opportunitiesare and how we embrace them.Biggest opportunity?
Digital transformation. Technology is ever evolving and holds the biggest opportunity when used the right way. Embracing it, with the customer experience and journey at the forefront, will ensure you stay ahead of the curve.Which gadget could you not live without?
HomePod.Football team?
Leicester City.Desert island discs?
Too many to mention - I don't think I could take just a few.Biggest vice?
No vices in this day and age!!!How do you unwind at weekends?
Some football, and mainly being out with friends in the pub.© 2026 Cheshire Datasystems Limited
