CDL appoints Houghton to new Cloud Architect post

15th March 2016

Insurance software house, CDL, has appointed Rob Houghton to the post of Cloud Architect, responsible for delivering CDL solutions, including the company's flagship insurance solution, Strata, via cloud computing.

Commenting on the appointment, Andrew Wormleighton, Director of Software and Technology at CDL, said: "Migration to the cloud is one of most significant disruptors in enterprise technology taking place today, and we have already seen a number of major insurers' strategies turn to cloud computing as a highly available, secure and easily scalable alternative to traditional on premise deployments.

"CDL has successfully enabled the first cloud hosted instances of Strata, as well as other core services, and Rob's appointment will see us strengthen our capacity and expertise in what we anticipate will prove a fast growth area. It also extends the range of hosting options available to retailers, complementing existing CDL or self-hosted solutions."

In his new position, Houghton, who has worked for CDL for over 16 years, will be building on his previous role as Technology Solutions Consultant, where he was a key player in delivering CDL's range of solutions to its customers.

As Cloud Architect, Houghton will now be focusing more specifically on facilitating the development of new proof of concepts and delivering CDL's cloud solutions to customers, enabling the company to deliver their solutions such as Web, Strata and IHP (Insurer Hosted Pricing) services remotely and on-demand.

He added: "I am delighted to be taking the lead in this tremendously exciting area. Cloud computing opens up new possibilities for the insurance industry, and we are clear that adding the option of a compelling cloud computing proposition will be key to CDL's ability to support insurance retailers to drive further business efficiency and intelligence through powerful technology."
