CDL has grown consistently and profitably year on year since it was established in 1977. By focusing on the insurance industry, the company has delivered a number of industry firsts, enabling it to become the market leader in systems for the high volume retail insurance sector.

In 1985, CDL developed its own quotation engine, unique in its speed and ability to generate up front quotations, adjustments and renewals. It remains the only system to offer overnight updates for the fastest access to the latest insurer products.

Capitalising on the opportunity presented by the telebroking boom of the eighties, CDL developed its CDL Classic system to deliver an end-to-end broking system including features such as, rapid addressing, point of sale documentation, full cycle EDI and a variety of payment options.

CDL was also early to market with its interactive online quotation engine and offers intermediaries the option of integrating this to the back office system for maximum efficiency. Today, the company offers a wide choice of plug-in modules designed to further enhance the efficiency of CDL Classic and CDL online solutions.

Continued growth and investment have enabled CDL to develop and launch CDL Strata, the ultimate next generation system for both personal and commercial line intermediaries. Strata is a platform independent application that can be configured to operate with a number of environments and its open interface ensures connectivity and integration with an extensive range of other systems.

The CDL XML ‘black box’ aggregator solution, launched in 2006, was another first for the market, offering advanced functionality and accurate high speed quotations to be gathered from aggregator partners in a matter of seconds. Many of the top aggregator sites use the CDL aggregator solution.

Also in 2006, CDL moved into their new state-of-the-art headquarters, Strata House, in Stockport, which now houses over 260 staff.

In 2007, CDL launched another first with their ‘Real Time Pricing’ module. This has been developed to enable intermediaries to maximise their returns from aggregator relationships by manipulating pricing in real time and returning the most competitive quote to the customer.

With the right technology, the right premises and the right people in place, CDL is well poised to continue delivering innovative and effective 21st century IT solutions for the insurance industry.
