Launched in 1997, Hastings employs 1250 people, Hastings Insurance Services offers customers private car insurance, van, home and motorcycle insurance as well as a full range of additional products, such as motor breakdown cover.
The company was bought by its management team from Insurance Australia Group in February 2009, with the aim of becoming one of the UK's leading insurance providers.
Following the acquisition, the management team recognised that the incumbent in-house system represented a high cost per policy and would not be able to scale up in line with the ambitions of the new business. It was imperative to replace the system and migrate the data as rapidly as possible.
"We had previous experience in working with CDL and were confident that they could implement a robust solution that would deliver and service our ambitious growth plans," explains James Fairhurst.
Seamless team working between both parties played an essential part in the deployment. CDL's approach to project management ensured that all implementation tasks were identified and allocated, and the workshops helped to break down the decisions that needed to be made. The usage of weekly project board reviews ensured that any potential risk or slippage was picked up at an early stage.
"The way CDL carried out the implementation was really impressive. They worked extremely well with our staff, with the emphasis on constant communication. As a result, the new system was in place within six months."
The CDL solution is effectively supporting Hasting Direct's ambitious growth targets and the fast turnaround of the deployment undoubtedly helped the company to achieve this.
