Stockport-based technology company, CDL, has recruited 14 apprentices to its newly launched 'Digital and Technology Degree' apprenticeship scheme in partnership with Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU). The programme creates opportunities for young people to gain workplace experience as well as a degree qualification which is funded by the employer.

Emma Lord, HR Manager at CDL, said: "The apprenticeship scheme is a great opportunity for students to learn new skills and gives them the chance to experience working life and to obtain a degree without the debt that usually comes with higher education. People are our greatest asset at CDL and our apprentice programme will help us to attract and nurture talent and create a pipeline of high performing employees who will have an exciting career in technology."

The company, which recently celebrated its 40^th birthday, is one of the UK's leading insurance software houses and employs over 600 people at its campus in Stockport. Earlier this year, it secured Top Employers certification in recognition of its outstanding workplace culture and was recently listed at number 20 in the Top 100 Technology companies in the North based on size.

The launch of the new scheme extends CDL's apprenticeship programmes, in line with Government strategy to develop vocational skills and increase the quantity and quality of apprenticeships following the introduction of the apprenticeship levy last April.

In addition to opportunities for Digital and Technology Degree apprentices, who work in various teams across the business and attend CDL-funded degree courses at MMU each week, the company also offers Service Management apprenticeships within the service desk team, with successful applicants completing a Level 3 Infrastructure Technician course alongside their work-based experience.
